Animals such as chickens can be fun to keep as they can be taken care of quite easily and what is better than having fresh eggs in the morning laid by your very own chickens and not to mention it is a cost saving alternative to buying often expensive, organic eggs. However you do need to take some things into consideration such as is the area for you chickens safe and secure. You also must make sure that your chickens get a good natural diet of things such as greens and grains. A portable chicken coop has many benefits over the traditional chicken coop such as it allows the chickens to forage.
When you begin to build your portable chicken coop you must consider a variety of factors such as the size of the coop which obviously is dependent on the size of your flock. Chickens need plenty of room so don’t crowd them in as this will limit the amount of eggs you will get from them. Also consider if you ever want more chickens than you have at the moment. Finally you must make sure they have good protection as you don’t want to lose any chickens. Fencing protects them against foxes but birds like hawks can easily fly in and grab one.
